See You at the Close-It Summit

The Close-It Summit is the premier event for those trying to use new technologies to close the skills gap in the American workforce. Burning Glass will be participating in multiple events at and around Close-It this week in Washington, D.C., including:

The Future of Work and the Rise of Hybrid Jobs, a panel organized by General Assembly on our Blurred Lines report and its implications for the workforce. Our CEO Matthew Sigelman will be one of the panelists at the event, scheduled for 6:30 pm Wednesday at the General Assembly offices in Washington (1133 15th Street NW, The Penthouse). This will be free and open to the public.

At the Close-It Summit, Burning Glass staff will be part of three panels on Thursday:

Recognizing the Power of Cross-Sector Skills will focus on identifying and capitalizing on the common set of foundational skills required across virtually all jobs. CEO Matthew Sigelman will be one of the panelists.

Retail: How Can We Help You Today? Will discuss how major retailers are exploring the possibility of an industry-wide credential useful to retailers across different segments of the industry. Steve Lynch, Director of Workforce and Economic Development at Burning Glass, will moderate.

Information Technology: The Technology of Information for Working Learners Today will cover how the IT world is trying to open new pathways to employment and advancement in this critical sector for the U.S. economy. Dan Restuccia, Chief Analytics Officer at Burning Glass, will be a panelist. For background, check out our Cybersecurity Jobs 2015 report.

To put a cap on the session, Matt Sigelman will also moderate the closing plenary session, Demand More: What’s Next?, a discussion with leaders from sectors ranging from advanced manufacturing to retail.

We hope to see you there—and if we don’t, you can follow the discussion on Twitter using the hashtag #demandmore.
